Safe and Sound Blog Post

I learned how to cut audio and make it flow with the video and the shots. i also learned that you can crop shots and make them look more nessary and crop out useless background images. I liked this project a lot I learned more about collaboration and camera techniques to enhance the production of the film and over al quality of the story. Safe and Sound in my eyes isn't my best work the story could of been stronger and more storyboarding and all team efforts were needed and we simply didn't have that.

2D Animation

The scope of the project was having a story that flowed and had a beginning, middle and end. The concept of my project was the mountain lion with the little party hat. It was traveling and looking for a way home. I drew the lion myself pretty proud of that because I am not a artist and it turned out better than I thought it would. My background is kind of just colored in on Photoshop but fits the story. I learned from this experience that you need to have a well thought out plan and idea before you start anything. I also got a better understanding of how to make a walk cycle and how to use the mask tool along with it. I would not use a background scene because it just caused a lot of pain with the key frames and the walk cycle for the lion didn't look right. I would probably keep my lion because he is cute and change how he walks. I am not the best artist but I would try my hardest and draw out some of the background if it turned out good. I didn't think my project was the best I could do and I am still getting use to the programs and i just need to work harder on them in class and dedicate time for it.

90Second Music Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX_tiJ0h5As&feature=youtu.be

What I Learned: I learned how to line it up with the beat and make the audio sound good. I also learned that to cut out of shots you don't need. We had a lot of walking shots and I cut out a lot of those to get the real point of the video.

How I Can Apply It To My Next Project: I can work on making sure there isn't to many walking shots and really work with getting the beat. I can also make sure you aren't looking at a shot longer and cut it down. Cutting down can help but making sure you don't cut out to much. Get the important stuff and just represent that and not have shots that aren't important.

Did I Like It Better: I liked it a whole lot better because looking at my other video it didn't make sense. To much walking around and it didn't really capture it what the main point. I liked going back and color correcting things back in. I did a different story then most of the people in my group and I think it captures it a lot better.

Safe and Sound

j

What I learned: I learned that you need to have a strong idea before you go in. Are idea could of been more planned out. It was a lot of walking to the destinations we need some of those but majority of our video was walking from point A to point B. I would of liked having more action shots not all theses walking shots. The story is easy to understand but it get long in the middle.

What I will apply next time: I will get a stronger idea and work on making the story adapted more. I want my shots to be clearer and more understandable.

Collaboration: Our group worked decently well together, Brendan and I argued a lot about focusing on the task at hand. We had a lot fun our personality worked well but focusing and staying on task was hard for us. If we all would of had some ideas from the beginning and song choices. Our story would work better. On accident we didn't notice one of are team members was here and we started filming without him which was bad.

Plausible But Impossible

What makes this plausible but impossible how Micky is in a dream. He dreams of going in a reverse world and this shows him transferring to the other world. What makes this impossible is that you can't walk through a mirror and transfer somewhere else. You can't just transport somewhere else where all objects are alive. Objects don't just come to alive and try chasing you.

A nutcracker doesn't just take the nut its cracking and eat the shell. Nut crackers don't just come alive and eat the shells thats impossible. But how Disney makes it look plausible is use human emotions and make act like a human inside an object. Micky realizes its a nut cracker and the emotion on his face tells that he is like "woah" this isn't suppose to do it. He doesn't know yet he is in a world where everything comes to life.

This screenshot is of Micky getting ready to shrink after eating a but that the nutcracker cracked. This is impossible you can't just start growing and getting smaller and changing that dramatically. How its possible is that we see the changing join on and we know something dramatic is going to happen this is illustrating that Mickey is transforming. They needed those changes to show he was going to change if you didn't have it it would just be big Mickey now little Mickey.

What makes this plausible is that Micky was playing with the cards and then became one of cards by getting shuffled into the deck. He became one of the cards, what makes this impossible is you can't become a card and fold into a card and be smashed into the cards.

What makes this plausible is he is fighting off the cards in the story and he uses the pen as a ink gun. He is shooting the cards with ink to distract them and make his escape. What makes this impossible is you can't shoot people with ink and the cards wouldn't be chasing you this is a show of being defensive and guarding. but in real life you can't shot cards with ink in a show of that defense and cards wouldn't be chasing you in the first place.

multi-playing animation

What I Learned:

In this project we learned how to create a moving scene using 5 different layers with different distances. I learned how to use the ruler tool in photoshop to practically cut it up into pieces and for this project I used it to benefit me. I also learned that you have to make sure you merge your layers because if you don't when you go into aftereffects in might not work it happened to me. I liked this project it wasn't very hard and it had me understand more of keyframes and timing in aftereffects.

The chase

What I learned:

I learned that you need to have your props and clothing every day with you or it will look different. This happened in my story when you can see how my hair started up and then goes down and it was constantly up to down. I  also learned that make sure your iris ring is down and not all the way up because one of shots was so bright and we couldn't change it in Final Cut pro.

How I worked with my group:

We sometimes disagreed on things and we forgot our materials once and overall thought we worked well together. No one really said this is my idea or the highway. I wanted everyone to have good input and be the position they wanted.

What I could do better:

well next time maybe figure out all our shots and have a more adapted storyboard. Our storyboard wasn't the best and it didn't really have what we needed on it. It didn't have a very good story line to follow this isn't my best work I wish we would came up with a better idea and really stick with that we dint really stick with a constant idea.

Sunshine

I learned that when doing a walking or moving sequence you need to make a new pre comp for everything you make. I also learned some what how to use the puppet tool and am starting to understand aftereffects.  I would redo the whole drawing I awful drawing skill I am not an artist so I wish I could make it better. I don't think its good at all it is not my good work but I am on the way to understand aftereffects and the fundamitals of animation.

Timeline of sun legs

This walking sequence wasn't easy I had a lot of problems of having both of the legs in the same layer at first so I had to duplicate the legs and make a whole new layer for each leg. It got very confusing and I don't think I fully understood what we were doing. The keyframes over all were working fine I just need to remember to use the shortcuts on the keyboard to make it faster and  it would probably cut my time in half. I started with a simple walking sequence of each leg. Then I copy the keyframes and just duplicated them to get the ending project. You might also notice that the swirls rotate around  I thought it was important and so I could give it something else besides walking.

1st drawing

The character I chose to draw was a sun because I like the colors in brings it out. I also thought it would be easy draw because I am not the best artist and it has some pretty simple structures. I also thought okay this isn't working lets draw something else bead idea. I drew a flower and got further behind then ended up going back to the sun.

debate

The six shots I used are over the shoulder a shot where you film the character from behind. Wide shot is where you get a sense of the characters being and surroundings and you can see majority of their body in it. Medium shot is where you can see from the hips up of the characters and get an idea of the background. Extreme close up is where your only getting like there hands typing or in my case of the characters mouth. Close up is where you can see the character face and a little bit of there neck and shoulders and still not really an idea of the background.  Extreme wide shot where to really get the setting not so much the character.

I learned that you need to keep your camera on the tripod because shots can get shaky and you don't want that and also decide a good setting for the video and work area.

Next time i will keep the camera on the tripod and go out with a more developed story board.

Worm animation

My worm honestly isn't the best my first worm messed up and stuff and I do not know why? This project I had a lot of problems with the pins and moving to worm into a way it looked normal. This worm is named Larry and doesn't look normal at all. Maybe next time our drawing animation I can figure out how to use it better and make it loo more human and real like and have the motions look normal. Not like this messed up worm named Larry, Larry has some issues okay. But i did learn that you need to make multiple layers because the first time I put my worm in the sam layer as my grass which is a no. I also learned a little bit more about the timing an d keyframes.

AB six shot sequence

What I learned:I learned how to properly focus the camera and make the shot stand out. I also learned how to properly story board and have a contiously motion.

What I will apply next time: Next time i will work on having a good story and adapting what I have learned and making it look better and more mature. Also when the plan changes adapt to it.

Defining Collaboration: The action of working with someone well is the technical definition. I think it describes it the best think. If you can be collaboration and work well when something goes wrong your a good sidekick. I think in my group we worked well together for never ever talking to each other.

bounce animation

While creating bounce we used AfterEffects which is a new program to most of our class. We first created the image in photoshop and then exported it into AfterEffects. I liked making the keyframes and the background of it. I had some problems rendering it in the end and had a few problems figuring out the new program. I am looking forward to using AfterEffects and seeing what I can bring to it and create in AfterEffects
