Maya Tools

 PolyThing

In Maya we learned how to use different ways of lighting and how to make the figure stand out and not be in the dark and also not be hidden. One of the ways was spot lighting, where the figure is in an arrow form and its purpose is to use lighting like a spot light. Area lighting is where the light takes up a big chuck of the area is more of like a sun and helps shadow the figure in place. Ambient light is like neon light it makes it glow and come to life and gives it an in-depth glow. Point lighting is similar to spot lighting but it is brighter and takes up more surface and area and helps shine points  of purpose in the figure. Overall this project wasn't to complicated I have realized it gets much harder later on and it takes time and really understanding all the tools.

Hammer

The cut face tool is used to cut a polygons in half or where ever you need cut. After you cut the face in half you can mess with it. The extrude tool lets you take the outline of a cup or other object that you draw out in the top view. After you finish drawing only half of it you click the extrude button and a magical cup comes up and it makes it take shape. The bevel softens it out and make the corners round.

Ice Cream

Bump mapping allows you to and more texture and make it more animated and more refined as a object. Looping the video allows you to to take your keyframes and have them go constantly and the image repeats the same movement of the keyframes constantly.

Bouncing Spheres

The keyframes allow you to add movement to your object you have created. It gives it movement and a point of being. To set up your keyframes you go to the timeline at the bottom and start with one keyframes and start moving your object in certain ways and each time you add a keyframe. The graph editor allows you to edit the keyframes you already have in place and let you change the flow of things and help you change things.

Cup

NURBS is a different type of shape and gives you more options and is different from the regular boring polygons you have. The curve tool lets you make curved edges and different shapes. It also helps you turn on the vertex tool and helps you control your edges and transform it to the shape you want. The revolve tool makes the cup 3D and give it depth and lets your create a image faster and easier.

Salt Shaker

The circle tool lets you take a shape and then put it on vertex mode and change the points and vertexes to the shape you want. The loft tool helps you take multiple shapes that are flat and scale them to make a 3D image.

Safe and Sound Blog Post

I learned how to cut audio and make it flow with the video and the shots. i also learned that you can crop shots and make them look more nessary and crop out useless background images. I liked this project a lot I learned more about collaboration and camera techniques to enhance the production of the film and over al quality of the story. Safe and Sound in my eyes isn't my best work the story could of been stronger and more storyboarding and all team efforts were needed and we simply didn't have that.

2D Animation

The scope of the project was having a story that flowed and had a beginning, middle and end. The concept of my project was the mountain lion with the little party hat. It was traveling and looking for a way home. I drew the lion myself pretty proud of that because I am not a artist and it turned out better than I thought it would. My background is kind of just colored in on Photoshop but fits the story. I learned from this experience that you need to have a well thought out plan and idea before you start anything. I also got a better understanding of how to make a walk cycle and how to use the mask tool along with it. I would not use a background scene because it just caused a lot of pain with the key frames and the walk cycle for the lion didn't look right. I would probably keep my lion because he is cute and change how he walks. I am not the best artist but I would try my hardest and draw out some of the background if it turned out good. I didn't think my project was the best I could do and I am still getting use to the programs and i just need to work harder on them in class and dedicate time for it.

90Second Music Video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX_tiJ0h5As&feature=youtu.be

What I Learned: I learned how to line it up with the beat and make the audio sound good. I also learned that to cut out of shots you don't need. We had a lot of walking shots and I cut out a lot of those to get the real point of the video.

How I Can Apply It To My Next Project: I can work on making sure there isn't to many walking shots and really work with getting the beat. I can also make sure you aren't looking at a shot longer and cut it down. Cutting down can help but making sure you don't cut out to much. Get the important stuff and just represent that and not have shots that aren't important.

Did I Like It Better: I liked it a whole lot better because looking at my other video it didn't make sense. To much walking around and it didn't really capture it what the main point. I liked going back and color correcting things back in. I did a different story then most of the people in my group and I think it captures it a lot better.
